Happy Smoothies - Part 1 - The Green One

Welcome to our food blog! We are quite excited to get this going. Lets jump right into the first recipe.
Most everybody loves a good tasting smoothie. Well guess what? We've come up with some healthy smoothies that taste wonderful. <----(The cliche line that is on all "Healthy" recipes. But hey! It's true.) We even have pictures.

The Green One

1/2 Cup Water
1/4 of a Cumcumber
1 Stalk of Celery
1/4 Cup Frozen Spinach
1 Green Apple
1 Kiwi
1/4 of a Banana
2 Tbsp Lime Juice
1 Tbsp Honey
About 10 drops of Stevia*
1 Tbsp Shredded Coconut (Optional)
Ice

We use a Vitamix. It works beautifully. If you do not own a Vitamix, be sensitive to your blender's needs.
Blend up the vegetables and water first. Then comes the fruit. Next, add the sweeteners, lime juice, and coconut. Last but not least, add ice to thicken and cool it. I'm sure you know how the rest goes. Serve and Enjoy!

*Stevia is a natural sweetener made from an herb called, well, stevia. It has a zero glycemic index, so it is diabetic friendly. In conclusion, it's just all around better for you. You can most likely get it at a local health food store. It comes in powder and liquid. In this case we used liquid.
